About a week ago, I had finished the book, Effective Altar Ministry by Rev. Robert Henson. This was a very short book, but a very informative book also. It dealt with the consecration of the altar worker and the need for them to be committed to the ministry of altar working. This is vital to the ministry of the church. Maybe even more than the preaching is to be there to help a sinner or saint receive from God what they need in a particular service. It discussed the fact that the altar ministry doesn't begin at the end of the sermon, but begins long before the first song is sung. I discussed about be discerning in the service so that you can minister effectively to the needs of the seeker. It went in to the discussion that repentance is the #1 area that needs to be addressed. Nothing else can happen in the altar service unless a person truly repents of their sins. Once repentance is mastered, the the baptism of the Holy Ghost is our next focus. We should immediately begin to assist the believer in their prayer to receive the Holy Ghost. It discussed counseling individuals on their need to be baptized whether or not they receive the Holy Ghost. As it closed it addressed some of the Do's and Don'ts of Altar Ministry. If altar ministry is effect in the church then the church will grow and experience revival. If altar ministry is not effective in a church it will become stagnant and begin to die out. I would recommend that all leaders in our churches read this book and put it into practice in their lives. It will be used in our own churches Apostles In Ministry Training Program. I look forward to practicing techniques learned in this book. Welcome to the official blog of Pastor T. G. Reynolds and The Revival Center (South Eastern Illinois Revival Center Inc).
