I really enjoyed this book received several ideas for messages that I preached in the sanctuary of Silver Street Pentecostal Church - Olney, IL. Rod Parsley is a fantastic in your face author that will test and push your faith to limits that you didn't know that you could. As a minister of the Gospel I was challenged by chapter 2, The Blame Shifters and the Remnant Preachers. The blame rests as much on me as a minister of the gospel as those who sit on my pews and listen to me preach the gospel message. It encouraged me to begin a revolution into my own ministry. The passive minister or saint of God will not start or maintain any revolution in the kingdom of God.
Enoch walked with God and was not. I have told God's church many times that we have not translated out of here, so we have a way to go toward our perfection. Enoch and Lamech were both decedents of Adam and Eve, but while Enoch walked with God Lamech did not. It is up to us to walk with God on our own. However, the time of blaming others for our past is not acceptable. Lamech's begat Noah and he let the revolution to save he and his family from the judgement of God. This proves that no matter what background you come from you can make a difference, if you turn and follow God. You are on the brink right now and it's up to you to plunge into the things of God.
The passive and blames shifting preachers need to man up and take the responsibility of following in the 21st preachers into feel good message, but preach the word of God with boldness even if it offends people. We live in an age that the evils of our time are driving our children and families over the edge into evil. 25% of all women will be abused at some point. Some form of spousal abuse occurs in 30-50% of the marriages in America. Nearly 50% of pregnancies in America end in Abortions. We no longer call sin - sin. It's a disease.
We have some how lost our hunger and desire. Without hunger and desire we can't have the fire that is needed to have a revolution in America and our churches. There are 4 characteristics that can't be missed in a remnant leader. They are (1) compelled by an inward desire, (2) to serve an infallible Leader, (3) through irresistible power, (4) based on absolute truth.
To have a revolution we must have sound solid doctrine. The world's greatest hope is the local pastor who preaches sound doctrine. When you mix faith with good sound doctrine it nourishes the souls of people. Those who play patty cake with the world they will never take anything. To take possession you must take it by force. To many people want to be down the middle. It is time that you be left or be right, but just be one. Don't try to be both. People don't need preachers and saints that want to walk the fence.
Genesis 38 tells us of the story of Zarah and Pharez. We have to have people that are not led by the arm of the flesh, but that they we breakers forth.
I would recommend this book to that one that is in the throws of decision of not knowing where to go. To that one that is definitely on the brink. This book will either make you mad or push you over the edge into the miraculous. God bless you as you enjoy this book as I did.
Humbly submitted,
Pastor Troy G. Reynolds
