Text: Genesis 38:27-30
The Arm of the Flesh or the Headship of Jesus Christ.
However, when the baby comes out Arm first, It will put a lot of stress on the baby as well as the Mother. I want to use this story and the background I just shared with you about childbirth to demonstrate the necessity of the birth of the church and the things of God being head first.
Arm of the Flesh
I Chronicles 32:7-8
Headship of Jesus Christ
Colossians 1:18
Any time a baby begins to emerge from the birth canal arm first, you have trouble. The church is always trying to come out arm first because we try to accomplish supernatural things through the arm of the flesh. The midwife was careful to put a scarlet thread around the protruding wrist because she thought it signaled the coming of Judah’s first born child. That title carried with it the birthright and the inheritance of everything Judah had. The midwife was upset when that arm and her pretty scarlet thread was jerked back into the womb. As the church is pretty upset when the Lord jerks back the arm of the Flesh and says, “Not Today”.
I will break forth from the womb this morning and I will be the child of inheritance. There was another baby in that womb, and Baby Number Two said, “Excuse me, but I don’t think I’m going to lie around in here while you take what rightly belongs to me. Get your arm back in here!” The Bible tells us that second baby came through the birth canal head first.
I never got the privilege of watching my wife give birth to baby naturally. Circumstances prohibited that from happening. However, I have watched enough discovery health to know what it looks like to have a baby.
I remember the story told of my mother and grandmother about the birth of my brother. My mother had two hard pregnancies before my younger brother was born. My older brother passed away shortly after birth and she was in labor for about 72 hours with me. However, when my brother was born it was a different story. The nurse came in and examined my mother and told her that she would be a while yet to get comfortable. A few minutes later she told my Grandmother, “Mary this baby is coming.” My grandmother said, “Teresa calm down the nurse just said it was going to be a while.” She said, “Mary this baby is coming now.” My grandmother pulled back the sheet and saw my brother’s head crowning and went to running down the hall yelling for a nurse to come.
It is time that the Headship of Christ break out in our church and community. But before it can break out in either one of them it has to break out in us. Gone are the days that we live our lives like we want them. Israel lived their lives according to what was right in their own eyes. This didn’t turn out to well for the children of Israel and it won’t turn out well for the New Testament Church either. It is time that we have a breakthrough of the Headship of Jesus Christ.
Many people in this room today are standing on the edge of a breakthrough, but it can’t and will not happen if we are allowing the Arm of the Flesh to come through before the Headship of Jesus Christ. Some of you are poised on the brink of the unthinkable, and you wonder what happens next. I too stand on the brink and the only way that I am going to get the breakthrough that I need is to have the headship of Christ come through in my life before the arm of the flesh. Anointing is available to that one that allows the headship of Christ to breakthrough into the miracle realm. If you study the linage of this man Pharaz you will find that his descendants were none other than King David and Jesus Christ.
Those who seek Jesus Christ first this morning will be heirs to the throne of God. If you seek the Arm of the Flesh you will be direct Heirs to the World and it’s systems. The anointing of God is reserved for those who breakthrough with the Spirit of God and the Headship of Jesus Christ. You can’t have the Spirit of God if there is no Headship of Christ in your life. If you want the anointing of God it isn’t in the prayer line waiting for a well known preacher to lay hands on you and grease you up like a pig preparing for the county fair. The anointing I’m talking about is too big and powerful for casual handling. It is reserved for a people who have broken through with the headship of Jesus Christ in their lives. There is a holy weight to this anointing.
The Arm of the Flesh is the easy way through life, but the Way of the Headship of Christ is the Hard way. However, The Arm of the Flesh may seem easy now, but as sin is pleasurable for a season so is the way of the Arm. It seems like the way to get ahead in this race of life, but it will only lead to pain on the church and the child of God down the road. Peter has a breakthrough the day Jesus asked His disciples, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? (Matthew 16:13) The disciples operating in common knowledge said He might be John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah, or one of the other prophets who were raised from the dead. But Peter didn’t name any of those people. When Jesus made it more personal and asked the disciples who they though He was, Peter stepped into the realm of divine revelation and said the unthinkable:
Matthew 16:16-19
16 – And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 – And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 – And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 – And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
This is a season of Holy Spirit possession. The Holy Spirit can go where you can’t go. He can hear what you can’t hear and reveal it to you right when you need it. When He reveals such a thing to you, it builds your faith so you can do what you though you could never do. You and I can’t go anywhere without the head. You say preacher how do I know that I am going after the Arm of the Flesh and not after the Headship of Jesus Christ. Line your life with the Word of God. If it doesn’t line up with his word then it’s not the Headship of Christ you are following. Well how do I know if it’s in line with his word of not? READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get out your Bible and search the scriptures for yourself.
