Illegitimate Marriages

In 2011, we live in a world of all types of marriages. We have 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th marriages. We have inter-racial marriages. We have Christian and Non-Christians. We have homosexual marriages. Some of these are acceptable unto God, but some are not. However, this is not the point of this blog post. But when I refer to Illegitimate Marriages, I want to talk about the marriage of the church to the world. Jesus Christ bought and paid for the church with his own blood and has a right to be jealous of our relationship with the world around us. As many people are having extra-marital affairs we are living in a time that the church is having extra-marital affairs with the world. Just as I would be jealous, if I was to walk into my home and find my wife in the embrace of another man. Jesus is jealous to find us still in the embrace of the world. Most of us the woman/man that we are married to was not our first relationship. However, when we married our spouse they asked us to break the ties with our past girl/boyfriends. I believe that Jesus knows about your relationship with the World and accepts that, but when he invites you and I into the Bridegroom's chamber to be our bridegroom he wants us to be committed to him foremost. However, we find people that are like the children of Israel that are finding wives (spouses) in the world not in the bounds of our spiritual lineage. I pray today that if you are still trying to be married to the World that you would divorce the world and marry Jesus.
