Well, I wish I could have told you that I took better notes on being able to give this a decent review, but I would be lying to you. When I read this book, I was not aware that I was going to review the books that I read in 2011. This was a last couple days decision.
However, I can tell you that I really enjoyed this book as well as Francis Chan's Book - Crazy Love. Chan is a very in your face type writer. If you don't like this approach, then you probably will want to save yourself some money. As in the book Crazy Love, there were times I like to have tossed the book, but I read it with an open mind. I do understand that the writer is writing from the theology of the Trinity (which I do not prescribe to). But if you can read the book knowing this you are able to find the meat and spit out the bones. In his book he never really delved into much of what he believed as an individual, but he did indicate that his understanding and insight of the Holy Ghost has grown since his younger days.
I can appreciate the fact that knowledge increases as we grow with God. Chan compels his readers to not just take what your denomination teaches you about the Holy Ghost, but to search the scriptures and see what it tells you about the Holy Ghost. He says, that you may read the scripture and come back believing the same thing you always believed, but at least you know it for yourself, or you may come back having a greater understanding about this powerful force in the church today.
The Holy Ghost is something that even in Pentecostal movements that we should allow to operate in our churches more. I agree with this thought pattern of the writer. I would recommend this book to other readers. I have included another link within the blog to direct you to a really good book review on this book, if you would like a more detailed review. Happy reading everyone. http://www.challies.com/book-reviews/book-review-forgotten-god-by-francis-chan
