Book Review: Defeating the Spirit of Jezebel

I must tell you up front this book really was the will of God for me.  There are many things in this book that the Lord has been dealing with me for some time in pieces.  I really didn't understand until I began to see it all come together in the writings of this book.  Defeating the Spirit of Jezebel is one of the most revelatory books I have read in some time.  As the writer dissects the characters in the story of Jezebel in scripture you begin to have a greater understanding to the spirit that underlines this character of God's Word.

The writer begins the book with the understanding of Elijah and Jehu and moves to the Exposing of Ahab and Jezebel.  As Elijahs and Jehus we must realize what are part is in defeating the spirit of Jezebel and the enabler Jehu.  Elijah never saw the over through of Jezebel because he was too busy hiding out in the caves afraid she was going to have him killed as she did the other prophets of God.  Jehu on the other hand was determined not to fall for the same fear that gripped Elijah's life.

Then as the writer moved into Chapter 2 he talked a large amount of cultivating the spirits of Elijah and Jehu.  We must get back to allowing the 5 fold ministry of God to be in operation in our churches and lives.  Without the 5 fold ministry in full operation the Spirit of Jezebel will manipulate until she wins.  But when the Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teachers find their rightful place in the church and allow their God given ministries to do what they should do it begins to challenge the lack of authority that Jezebel possesses in her own life.

In closing he writes that there are 5 principles that you and I can live by that will defeat the Jezebel Spirit in our lives.

1.  repentance
2.  humility
3.  intercession
4.  submission to authority
5.  prophetic ministry

Humbly submitted,
Pastor Reynolds
